FAQ

Why do I need a Filtered Administration set?
As frozen plasma is thawed a small amount of fibrinogen may precipitate resulting in small particulate that is easily removed by the filtered administration set. Use of a filtered administration set is considered to be industry best practice.
Why do you ship Next Day Air?
Plasma is sent as a frozen product. To avoid thawing it is shipped by the fastest method possible.
My plasma delivery was delayed and the plasma arrived slushy, is it OK?
Plasma that is partially thawed but still cold to the touch can be refrozen.
How do I thaw a unit of plasma?
Our thawing instructions are described here.
I didn’t use a unit of plasma that had been thawed to administer, can I refreeze it?
Freeze thaw cycles can result in reduced protein activity levels in the plasma and increased fibrinogen precipitate. We recommend once the product is thawed and heated to administration temperature it should be used or discarded.
How do I report a reaction?
A reaction is a rare occurrence; we want to know! Our Quality Department is available at 1-800-648-9990 to take your information. Please have the serial number and administration details available. Completion of additional regulatory reporting forms may be requested.
